Severn Trent Community Fund

Our customers, and the communities we live and work in, are at the heart of everything we do. And that’s why, since 2020, we’re giving away more than £10million over five years to support new projects by local charities and community groups in the Severn Trent region – helping to make a real and tangible difference in our communities.

How much you can apply for

There are three sizes of grant that you can apply for:

  • £2,000 to £10,000 – up to 12 months for project completion
  • £10,001 to £75,000 – up to 24 months for project completion
  • £75,001 to £200,000 – up to 24 months for project completion

To apply for more than £10,000 you must be a registered charity or a business registered with Companies House, a local authority or parish council.

To apply for more than £75,000, your project must have a considerable link all three of our wellbeing themes: People, Place and Environment.

By this we mean:

  • People – Projects that support healthier lifestyles and skills development.
  • Place – Projects that help create better places for communities.
  • Environment – Projects that look after our natural environment, rivers and water.

We would love to maximise our impact for every project we support. For this reason we encourage all applications to provide match funding and it’s a requirement for applications of £10,001 or over.

Applications between £2,000 and £10,000

If you are applying for £10,000 or less, match funding is not mandatory.

However, if you secure match funding it is likely to help your application be successful, so we would encourage you to do so where possible.

Match funding for this funding pot does not have to be in the form of cash. In-kind contributions for services or volunteering can also add a great deal of value to lots of projects.

Applications over £10,000

If you are applying for more than £10,000 funding, it’s essential that you are able to contribute at least 10% financial match funding from your reserves or another funder(s).

This must be secured before your application can progress to the next stage. In-kind contributions and volunteering cannot be used as financial match funding, sorry!

What we can fund

You can apply for a grant if your organisation is not for profit and you have a governing document.

Applications can be made by organisations including:

  • Volunteer or community groups
  • Organisations registered with the Charity Commission
  • Organisations registered with Companies House that are limited by guarantee
  • Local Authority or Parish Councils
  • Foundation schools, colleges or academies

The proposed project must be located in the Severn Trent region and the community it is benefiting must be Severn Trent customers.
